They throw a soft, often blurry still or a drifting nebula in a dark room. Third-party sellers list some of those on Bunnings Marketplace, online only. None of that makes the Short’s aisle claim, “5D holographic” claim, or aquarium bedroom true, and none of it makes Bunnings the advertiser.

Why YouTube still shows it

YouTube’s Spam policy already covers this pattern: AI or synthetic mass-production, malicious clickbait, and videos whose main job is to shove viewers off-site. Google’s paid YouTube ads also ban exaggerated product claims.

Organic Shorts are not pre-cleared the way ads are. Enforcement is mostly after a report. These farms rotate channels and filenames faster than review. YouTube does not fact-check product performance. Leaving the upload up is not the same as the claims being legal.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, false performance claims and fake “found in store” setups on social media are still prohibited. See the ACCC on social media promotions.

What to do

Do not buy from the link under the Short.

Do not ask a Bunnings store for this box. They do not stock Evonix. The store is not the scam.

Report the video on YouTube (Spam or scams / misleading).

If you want a novelty night light, buy from a retailer with a real returns path and expect a small projected still, not the ad.

Misleading Australian ads, including fake “found in store” setups, can be reported to the ACCC.

Sources

YouTube oEmbed title
9-15 投影5.mp4
, author Ryan Smith / @RyanSmith-v2i; auto-transcript of the Short

Bunnings search: evonix

Bunnings search: galaxy projector

Bunnings Marketplace example, not in-store

Amazon AU Evonix listing, Brand: Generic

evonixstore.com

Review of the same “5D holographic” hardware

Same ad pattern: Comauo Projector Scam: AI Ads vs. What Arrives

False: Bunnings is the victim of a false-association scam, not the seller.
