The Temu listing advertised as a “4TB portable hard drive case” mixes two products — an empty USB enclosure, and 4TB of storage — in one title. A real 4TB portable hard drive does not sell at impulse-buy prices. Cheap “multi-terabyte” sticks and boxes are a documented fake-capacity scam. An honest Australian example: Umart sells a Volans USB 3.0 enclosure “tested with up to 4TB” for $12. The 4TB figure there is a maximum the shell will take, not storage in the box.

“4TB” + “gaming, video, music” + ads for “4 tb usb drive” is a capacity claim. In Australia a known-good 4TB portable HDD — WD My Passport and similar 2.5-inch USB units — has been listing around $180–$309 at specialist and big-box retailers through 2026. Under Australian Consumer Law, the ACCC says the overall impression must be accurate; intent does not matter; silence about a missing disk can mislead.
