Lies travel because they feel true, cheap, or angry. “Stop The Rot” exists to slow them down — and to show, through careful fact-checking, what actually holds up and what does not.
Why we check
A claim does not have to be political to do damage. Marketplace ads can steal money. Doctored pictures can steal context. Rumours can be built to inflame hatred of minority groups and steal safety. We check all of that. Blatant fakes still get a calm write-up. Harmful smears get checked without repeating their script.
How we work
Truth does not belong to one team. The same standard applies to every side. A real event can wear a fake picture. A “protect your vote” warning can still be false. We use primary sources, we credit them, and we show you how to test the next claim yourself. We do not cheer a party. We do not treat a detector, a campaign, or a viral post as proof — we follow the facts.
What we are aiming for
We examine questionable articles, posts, images, and advertisements relevant to Australia and the United States. We research them carefully to confirm or refute their validity, whether the errors are intentional or not. Our goal is simple: fight false or misleading information in all its forms and provide the unvarnished facts, not a biased or skewed opinion.
